The first step is to reach out to check our availability for your event date. Call or text Liza at 619-861-6260 or email her at info@countrydjevents.com Then we chat over the phone to make sure it's a good fit. Once you've decided to move forward, the next step is to schedule a time to complete the DJ contract. We can meet in person or virtually. Then you pay a deposit to hold the date. We follow up as it gets closer to the event to go over any other relevant information. Then it's game time!
Yes, we ask for a $200 nonrefundable deposit for DJ gigs when signing the DJ contract. The balance can be paid on or before the event. For line dance gigs, a $50 nonrefundable deposit is appreciated to hold the date. We have done line dance gigs without a deposit, though, but we really need one for DJ gigs because it's a much bigger commitment.
We usually arrive 60-90 minutes before the start time. It usually takes 30-45 minutes to tear down. We only charge for DJ time, though.
We bring all of our own equipment including professional DJ equipment, a high table and stool. We need the client to provide an electrical outlet. A generator works if there is no electricity. Wifi is helpful, although we can use a hotspot if necessary. Let us know if the area is so remote that there is no cell coverage so we can plan accordingly by purchasing or downloading the music in advance.
We can provide a gig bar with 4 DJ lights upon request. Most clients opt for a more country western vibe and hang string lights if the event is outdoors. They also tend to use a lot of country-themed decor such as hay bales, bandanas, and mason jars with flowers.
Yes I am comfortable on a mic and acting as the MC. I used to give bus tours to hundreds of people at the San Diego Zoo for many years and am quite comfortable on a mic.
I'd say my MC style is minimal. I'm happy to make relevant announcements as needed, but I don't talk much unless it's warranted. When I'm leading line dancing or party pumping, though, I'm on the mic calling out the steps and getting everyone hyped up.
It totally depends on what type of event it is. At corporate events, people want to enjoy a good meal, have fun, and chat with their coworkers. They enjoy winning raffle prizes, playing games and participating in team-building activities. At private parties like birthdays and weddings, though, people are more willing to let loose and express themselves. Knowing this, I create the mood to match the vibe of each type of event and facilitate camaraderie while party pumping and leading line dancing.
The total cost is calculated by the hours of DJ service that you need. We do not charge for set up and tear down time. So, if your event is from 6-10pm and is in San Diego, we'll charge for 4 hours. We charge a travel fee for gigs that are outside of San Diego. If an overnight stay is required, we charge an extra travel fee to cover the cost of the hotel. If a gig is outside of our service area altogether and requires us to fly or drive a long distance, additional travel feels may be applied.
Our service includes both DJ and MC services. It also includes optional line dance instruction and party pumping or encouraging folks to get out onto the dance floor. For weddings, we include one free private wedding dance lesson prior to the event if desired.
It depends. Sometimes I come alone and sometimes I bring a DJ assistant. The cost is the same regardless.
Yes, we have liability insurance with Athos Insurance. We can show proof if hired.

We ask the client to give at least 3 days notice to cancel the event for a full refund minus the deposit. After that they must pay in full. If I get very sick and can't DJ, I will try my best to find a suitable substitute DJ. I take my job seriously though and am very reliable. I've DJ'd gigs while sick with a cold or a muscle spasm. The show must go on!
